Glazed Turnips with Gruyere Cheese
Ingredients
6-8 each Turnips (2 lbs), peeled, sliced ¼ inch thick
4 cups Boiling Water
1 Tbls Oil
4 Tbls White Wine Vinegar
1 Tbls Sugar
¼ tsp Black Pepper, fresh ground
½ cup Gruyere, shredded
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 400’F
- Place sliced turnips in a 9x13 baking dish, pour boiling water over turnip and let stand for five minutes. Drain water.
- Drizzle oil over turnips & toss till completely coated. Arrange turnips shingle style in baking dish.
- Drizzle with vinegar and dust service with sugar & pepper.
- Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and place shredded gruyere over turnips and bake for 10 minutes or until cheese becomes golden.
- Remove and serve hot
